Conte Portrait

We had to draw a 30 minute portrait of the model in Life Drawing class yesterday. That time passed by so quickly that I was surprised and disappointed at how much I managed to put on paper.

Gretal, so far

So! For the past 4 weeks, I have been working on this girl for my character design project. She is the product of two other character I had fused together. One was a girl with a story but no face and the other was a gas mask and a dress with no story. It's been a smooth process so far and I'm content with how much she's grown. Funny enough, I just redesigned her dress. I'll post that up soon.

Bloody Reefroots -Pirate Crew 77-

Drawn at 3am in a fit of delirious insomnia, this was inspired by a twitter post from a man that I deeply respect. I was thrown off-kilter by the random and drew this, creepily giggling to myself throughout the whole process.

Then I sent it to him and went to bed.
Couple weeks later, I decide to post this here on my blog because, why not?

The Room

LinkDrawn by Omar Dogan
Shaded by My Nguyen

Spent about 8 hours on this number. 2 hours planning/mapping and 6 painting on Photoshop. Although there are mistakes, I'm happy with it.

More Life Drawingering

Lately, I've been really timid with my life drawing. So for today's class, I decided to study the torsos.

T-Shirt Design

Here it is. This was actually inspired by a sketch I had done a while ago of two kids flying on a pencil. Which in turn was inspired by the sheer energy of a movie called Tekkonkinkreet. If my design were to win, I'd love to see the smoke travel up the shoulder. I love playing around with the space a t-shirt gives.

One of the biggest challenges I has with this was the 3 colour limit which includes black and white.

Wish me luck! Fingers crossed.

New Header

Decided to pretty up my blog with this number. The picture was drawn on the bus. Pretty much wanted to draw myself in a cool way. Think this it too cool to be me now though.

First Week of Life Drawing (Day 2)

I was supposed to add my first drawings of the semester yesterday but then I forgot.

But yeah! I admit that I haven't got to life drawing for four months. I've decided to document the painful journey of getting back up to speed.

From Yesterday

From Today

Back home.

Bus Drawings 2

These were all sketched, inked and coloured while I was out and about. Either in buses or while I was waiting for one. I know I sketched the first one during the Sketch Jam in April.

Music to work by

Music is a really important part of my life. It has always been my first love with drawing as a very close second. Some of you may ask, "If you love music so much, why not a career in it?" Well, the very simple reason is that I can't make music. So there!

Anyways, listening to music fuels my drawings. It's like drinking and smoking. Bad analogy, I know, but it works. Here are some songs that I listen to when drawing.

Apparat - Limelight

The Bloody Beetroots - Domino

Keiichi Okabe - Song of the Ancients ~Devola~

The Glitch Mob - A Dream Within a Dream

My playlist constantly shifts so I'll probably write another music post whenever I feel the need.

Also! When I'm feeling rather indecisive, I tend to tune into Bassdrive.com for Rinseout Radio and the Liquid DnB stuff they have.
